To talk about Tomás Muniesa is to talk about one of the pillars of Nousmedis. Not only because he is one of the most experienced team members, but also because he knows better than anyone the ins and outs of our day to day. Tomás is our Full Stack Developer and, if you’ve ever heard a technical conversation between Tomás and someone from the team, you’ve probably felt like you needed subtitles. And it’s not because he doesn’t know how to explain himself (quite the contrary), but because his level of knowledge and experience is so deep that sometimes it seems like he speaks another language (one with a lot of code and strange jargon).
When something breaks, doesn’t work, or we simply don’t know why it’s doing that, we all have the same reflex: “Let’s ask Tomás”. And there he is, with his infinite kindness, his calm demeanor and his patience, ready to bring order to the chaos and translate unfathomable technological hieroglyphics for the rest of us mortals. Connecting systems, transforming data, solving mysteries… Tomás is our “official troubleshooter” of digital messes.
But beyond being a tech wizard, Tomás is a person with a big heart. A hands-on dad, a friend who’s always there, and someone deeply committed to his neighborhood and community. Although we won’t go too far into his private life, just a short conversation with him is enough to see there’s much more beneath the surface: knowledge, sensitivity, a great sense of humor, and a generous dose of geeky kindness.
Do you have a morning routine or habit that prepares you for the workday?
Yes, I wake up really early, make myself a coffee, and feed the birds on the balcony.
What’s the role of Tomás Muniesa at Nousmedis?
I develop applications and provide technical support.
What are the 3 professional skills or qualities that you think are most valued at Nousmedis?
Analytical thinking is definitely one of the most important.
What is your secret superpower at work?
Not being annoying! 🤣
What’s one of the projects you’ve enjoyed the most at the company and why?
Catalog Cloud. It brought challenges I hadn’t even imagined. I love a good challenge.
What do you envision the future of catalog automation to be like?
In the future, I think human involvement will be minimal. Intelligent automation, meaning AI and a whole ecosystem of process automation technologies, will take over. Humans will only handle the more superficial aspects, like aesthetics and design.
Do you think print is on its way out?
No, I think print will make a strong comeback, like vinyl records. We love to touch and feel things, and seeing everything only in digital form dehumanizes us. I believe good marketing professionals will recognize the added value of a printed catalog.
Can you share a recent accomplishment, either personal or professional, of which you are particularly proud?
Sleeping 10 hours straight. I have two small kids, so that’s a huge achievement! 👦 👧
Tell us a fun anecdote or a favorite moment at Nousmedis
The Christmas lunch was really fun. I usually stay in the background, but that day we all had a great time.
If you could switch roles with someone on the team for a day, who would you choose and why?
Anyone whose job I know absolutely nothing about. I’m drawn to the unknown.
If you could learn a new professional skill right now, what would it be?
Design and graphic arts, even though I’m color-blind, which makes it tricky. But hey, we often want what we don’t have.
When you’re not working, we can find Tomás Muniesa…
In the garden. Right now I’ve got chard, borage, garlic, onions, cabbages, endives, parsley, and a few lettuces. Some people say they have a garden when all they have is a 🍅 plant. I’ve got a real garden, not just a lonely and sad plant!
What is the best advice you have ever been given and who gave it to you?
A neurologist friend once told me to go up and down the stairs when I feel overwhelmed at work. It might sound silly, but science backs it up: it helps reset your brain and improve logical thinking.
Did you enjoy this? We sure loved getting a glimpse of the person behind the colleague. If you want to meet the rest of our team, don’t miss the other interviews on our Blog!
