The LedsC4 catalog is vast and sophisticated: thousands of product references with multiple variations, meticulously designed collections, and essential technical materials for decision-making. As expected, multiple departments and team members are involved in the catalog production process. Each of them has different objectives regarding the information included in the catalog. Every year, new product data is incorporated, last-minute updates must be added, prices are adjusted and released at the last minute, and there is a constant need to stay up to date with the latest technological formats to ensure the catalogs reach and engage all target audiences in the digital age.

All of this makes it extremely challenging to launch an updated and error-free catalog each year. For LedsC4, manually producing all the necessary versions was almost an unmanageable task, requiring an enormous allocation of resources of all kinds. However, this never stopped the editorial production and communication team at LedsC4, who sought a solution that would maintain data accuracy without compromising the informational, communicative, creative, and aesthetic needs of their catalogs. They found the right answer and support to reduce time and costs in the production of their automated lighting catalogs.

Nousmedis stepped in to implement automated lighting catalogs that would optimize their processes. Our mission was to automate their catalogs for the Architectural Indoor, Architectural Outdoor, and Decorative product lineS, key pillars of their product offering.

Challenges: What problems needed to be solved?

Complex data management:

  • Thousands of product references with hundreds of variations.
  • Complicated classification across multiple levels (categories, subcategories, collections, and families).
  • Interconnected product relationships, such as shared accessories across different categories.
  • Marketing information maintained in physical catalogs, making updates and digitization difficult.
  • The need to manage content in 8 languages with different pricing per market.

Demanding catalogs creation:

  • Catalogs exceeding a thousand pages with multiple versions for different markets and languages.
  • Two distinct formats: large editions without prices and more compact versions with pricing.
  • Dense and complex technical tables, essential for the lighting sector.
  • The need to digitize catalogs with hyperlinks to the website to enhance user experience.

Solutions: How did we create automated lighting catalogs?

Our collaboration with LedsC4 spanned three intense yet wonderful years, during which we built such a close relationship that we felt like part of their company—and we believe they felt the same about us. 💙 What did we achieve through this powerful partnership based on honesty, trust, joint effort, and commitment?d on honesty, trust, joint effort and commitment?

Data management optimization with a PIM:

  • We implemented a PIM (Product Information Management) system that allows each department to manage its respective fields: product managers handle technical data, while the marketing team manages descriptions and highlights.
  • We centralized images in a single repository to ensure consistency and facilitate updates.
  • We automated translation management, drastically reducing delivery times—from months to just days.
  • We standardized collection information using common fields within the category form, making maintenance easier.
  • We linked the PIM to the ERP, ensuring that prices update directly from the source, thus separating product management from pricing management.

Catalog automation and enhancement:

  • We implemented EasyCatalog to automate layout design, significantly reducing the time needed to produce each version.
  • Thanks to this optimization, LedsC4 could allocate more resources to design, transforming the catalog into a more attractive and visually powerful sales tool.
  • We created sales material tables that summarize multiple variants into just a few rows, optimizing space.
  • We automated indexes (visual, category-based, and reference-based), eliminating error-prone manual tasks. We facilitated the generation of digital versions with hyperlinks to the website, improving accessibility for customers and distributors.

One of our proudest achievements is that, although we continue to provide support and technical consulting, we trained the LedsC4 team to become almost 100% self-sufficient. Now, thanks to the tools, data connections, scripts, and developments we implemented, they can generate and paginate their automated lighting catalogs with minimal intervention from our side. Seeing them work with full independence, efficiency, and speed is truly satisfying for us!
