A new year, and 2025 is no exception. It always starts with renewed energy and a long list of new resolutions. We vow to take better care of ourselves, make the most of our gym memberships, read more books, be more assertive, and set healthier boundaries in our relationships. But beyond personal goals, companies also seize this time to reflect and map out their annual objectives. It’s easy to fall into the trap of accumulating countless good intentions, creating a to-do list that’s even longer than a child’s Christmas wish list. At Nousmedis, we prefer to focus on quality over quantity—though, as you’ll see below, we’ll deliberately contradict ourselves. Creativity is also central to our goals.
This year, we’ve chosen achievable goals based on the criteria of importance and urgency, following a SWOT analysis. One of our key objectives is to improve our external communication. Have we been able to convey who we are and what we do so far? The truth is, we haven’t. We believe we can do much better. That’s why one of the pillars of this objective is revising and enriching our website. Like disciplined little ants, we’re going to work tirelessly to improve every corner of our corporate site.
The first step in this journey was an inspiring session with VIGVAG in late December, focused on creativity.
Before heading off for a few days to celebrate Christmas, we had the pleasure of experiencing a unique event at the Nousmedis offices. Led by David and Maribel from ViGVAG, we delved into the fascinating world of creativity in a session that combined theory and practice. We had an amazing time, and it completely changed the way we view creative thinking. During this day, we explored creativity as a tool for problem-solving, idea generation, and, in our case, innovating the way we communicate how we save our customers time and money by automating their catalogs.
Creativity is an inherent ability in everyone, though it’s often underestimated. As our facilitators explained, creativity is not a divine gift reserved for a select few, but a guided exercise accessible to all. It can be enhanced through specific techniques and the right environment. At Nousmedis, we firmly believe in the transformative power of this approach, which not only helps us find new solutions but also encourages us to view our daily tasks from unexpected perspectives.
Why is it important to nurture creativity? Because innovative ideas are not immediately visible. Searching for ideas is like digging for hidden treasure. If we use the right tools, like divergent thinking techniques, we can move beyond conventional, logical thinking and open the door to solutions that truly make a difference.
It’s also crucial to be aware of the enemies of creativity, such as pressure, fear, and perfectionism, and to fight them with courage. From viewing the world through the eyes of a child to allowing ourselves moments of wandering and exploration, there are countless ways to amplify our creative capacity.
In this post, we’ll share more about this unforgettable session, divided into two parts: the first, where we explored theoretical foundations, and the second, featuring fun practical exercises that led us to rethink how we tell our story. If you’re interested in taking creativity to the next level, read on and discover how we turn our ideas into impactful solutions.
What did VIGVAG teach us about creativity?
This is how suggestive and powerful VIGVAG’s mental paradigm shift sounds, this time embodied by its director, David Pinedo Andrés:
The Creative Session is an exciting journey into the unknown territory within us, seeking answers we’ve never given.
Here are some of the key takeaways from our Creative Session:
- Creativity is for everyone: It’s a universal skill that we all possess and simply need to exercise.
- Creativity is a daily practice: It’s all about method.
- Conventional thinking must be broken: Ideas aren’t found on the surface; they require deep exploration.
- We must identify and fight the enemies of creativity: Perfectionism, fear, insecurity, pressure… Recognizing these barriers is the first step to overcoming them.
- The creative environment boosts talent: Group dynamics are a catalyst for ideas, where interaction and collaboration enrich the creative process.
- Associating concepts expands the horizon: Applying the laws of idea association—such as similarity, causality, contiguity, or contrast—helps connect elements in unexpected and unique ways.
- Creativity also has its rules: One of them is that we should focus on quantity of ideas, not necessarily quality. This is where, as we warned, we contradict ourselves. While for setting annual goals the list must be short and selective, when it comes to brainstorming, no idea is too ridiculous to consider. Any thought shared in a creative dynamic, no matter how far-fetched, could lead to an impactful solution no one had thought of. Before applying these principles to redefine communication at Nousmedis, we reviewed these and other guidelines recommended by VIGVAG for a Creative Session.
Does that sound like the viral social media trend “We listen and we don’t judge”? Hehe, we thought so too. But, to avoid ending up arguing. like some friends in TikTok, we followed David and Maribel’s rules to the letter before diving into the second part of our Creative Session with VIGVAG.
What fun practical exercises did we do at Nousmedis?
We reached the most exciting part of the session: the practical exercises. David Pinedo Andrés, director of VIGVAG, became our very own Doraemon, pulling out of his “magic pocket”—or rather, his endless activity bag—a variety of resources and tools designed to unleash our creativity. Like a Mary Poppins of innovation, he turned seemingly ordinary tasks into games that were not only fun but also deeply revealing. Each exercise had a clear purpose: helping us communicate better at Nousmedis, enjoy the process, and break established patterns.
One of the most striking ideas was a large sheet of wrapping paper on the wall, illustrating an example of our buyer persona. Our challenge was to explain to “Adam” (our imaginary client) who we are, what we do, and how we can help him—using different perspectives. That’s when the real creative magic began: we rolled up our sleeves and started playing!
In one activity, we each took on unexpected roles—ranging from an Austrian musician to an influencer to a North Korean soldier—and had to tell our story (who we are, what we do, what we offer) while adapting to our character’s context. As absurd as it seemed, this challenge forced us to look at our communication from entirely new perspectives.
Another activity surprised us with wooden triangles of different colors, representing different age groups. If you drew the yellow one, for example, you had to explain what we do as if you were a five-year-old. A fun way to simplify complex concepts!
Punk bracelets were another great discovery. This rebellious activity invited us to adopt a dissident, disruptive spirit and tell our story with boldness and provocation. It was a call to step out of our comfort zone and communicate from a radically different mindset.
The session was full of surprises and emotions—almost like the thrill of Squid Game, but without the fear and dire consequences 😜. These and other dynamics not only entertained us but also helped us rediscover our value proposition from fresh, unexpected angles. Each exercise brought us one step closer to our goal of communicating in an effective and connected way with our target customers. The large whiteboard filled with post-it notes and ideas from all the activities is proof of this.
And the best is yet to come! Now, back from the holidays, we have one final session with VIGVAG to analyze the results of this creative work. We are filled with energy and excitement to apply what we’ve learned and develop clear, innovative, and effective external communication.
In the meantime, if you’re curious or want to know more about how we can help you, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’d love to explain it to you in person, with all the passion and creativity that define us. Happy 2025!
