What’s new in EasyCatalog 2025: what you need to know

EasyCatalog 2025

EasyCatalog 2025 has officially arrived, introducing a range of powerful upgrades that outshine its 2024 predecessor. Developed by 65bit.com, EasyCatalog 2025 is the go-to plugin for Adobe InDesign users looking to drastically reduce page layout time while ensuring error-free documents.

With EasyCatalog 2025, you’ll benefit from new features designed to enhance workflow efficiency, boost overall performance, and offer more advanced customization options for both designers and technical users.

Below, we highlight the key improvements in EasyCatalog 2025 so you can fully leverage its potential.

1. Improved tabular fields

One of the main improvements of EasyCatalog 2025 is the behavior of tabular fields, which now work like regular fields. This includes the ability to sort and filter data, as well as perform standard operations such as Replace fields and Update documents. It’s also possible to nest tabular fields, which brings more flexibility to data handling.

2. Container improvements

The container layout engine has been overhauled to more efficiently handle nested containers, which now support only enhanced tabular fields. While the new version improves performance, the option to return to the legacy layout engine is also provided by selecting “Legacy Layout” in the containers panel.

3. Improved JSON/XML support

To facilitate the integration of complex data, when an enhanced tabular field is set up in JSON or XML format, its structure is automatically converted into a series of nested tabular fields. This speeds up the process, as formatting rules are automatically created when inserted into an empty container.

4. New IDMS field type

A specific field type for IDMS files (InDesign Snippet) is introduced, allowing them to be placed in a similar way to images, with the ability to be populated as library items or formatting rules. This makes it easier to manage these items in your InDesign workflow.

5. Google Docs Support

Improvements have been implemented to allow EasyCatalog 2025 to remain compatible with changes to Google Docs authentication, ensuring a smooth workflow with cloud-hosted documents.

6. Improved Right-Click Menu

The right-click menu has been reorganized in a hierarchical manner, categorizing options and adding shortcuts to common functions, making it easier to navigate and access common tools.

7. Performance Improvements

The overall performance of EasyCatalog 2025 has been optimized. Notable improvements include an internal encoding of field names, which significantly speeds up searches. In addition, linguistic sorting and page-based hyperlink performance has been greatly improved.

8. Editing Multiple Fields at Once

When editing multiple field options simultaneously, only the settings you’ve modified are now applied, reducing errors and increasing efficiency.

9. Table improvements

Table cells can now be merged if they contain identical tables, a key improvement for managing nested tables and complex data.

10. Support for more currencies

The list of available currencies in the Field Options > Format > Currency section has been expanded, providing more formatting options for financial fields.

11. Fixed-width matrix tables

A “Fixed Width” option can now be set for footer columns within matrix tables, giving you more control over the layout of your tables.

12. LAB process colors

EasyCatalog now automatically creates LAB process colors when using swatch names with the LAB:0.5,0.6,0.7 convention, making it easier to create and manage accurate colors in printed projects.

13. Guide-based pagination improvements

The ability to specify different horizontal and vertical margins when using guide-based pagination has been added, optimizing the arrangement of elements in your layouts.

14. Improved XML data provider

Editing field XPaths is now more flexible, with an expanded list of settings and a new option to import/export settings in XML format, making it easier to reuse and standardize settings.

These improvements make EasyCatalog 2025 more powerful and versatile, giving users advanced tools to manage large amounts of data more efficiently. You can find more about them in the official EasyCatalog 2025 Release Notes.
