Eduard Blanch is a quiet, serene, calm, peaceful, placid, carefree, relaxed man. We run short of synonyms to add aura points to his coolness. It may be his voice that, in a low and slow tone, seems to calm everything around him or, perhaps it is the world itself that decides to slow down when he enters the scene.
Sometimes we wonder if it is natural or if it is an almost superhuman act of self-control. Is all calm inside or is there an erupting volcano contained behind that serene honey-colored gaze?
We will never know, but what we do know is that he is perfect for the environment in which he works. Learning how to automate catalogs is not always an easy ride. Mistakes are inevitable and losing your temper is not an option. In those moments, Eduard seems to not only hold his own, but with his perseverance and curiosity, he never gives up until he reveals all the ins and outs of the code or discovers the best way to organize the data in a product catalog. That earns him some extra aura points.
Of course, his legendary parsimony comes at a cost. On the other hand, it took him a while to answer the interview! That takes away some of his aura points 😁 😁.
But, as is often the case, it’s worth the wait. Because what Eduard offers, whether in the form of code, conversation or interview, has that calm touch that balances the chaos. And now you’ll see for yourself…. 👇
Do you have a morning routine or habit that prepares you for the workday?
I like to listen to music on the subway on my way to work. It helps me to disconnect and start the day in a good mood.
What is your role at Nousmedis?
I am data analyst and programmer.
What are the 3 professional skills or qualities that you think are most valued at Nousmedis?
The ability to adapt. I consider that I have a good capacity to adapt and that is something that, from Nousmedis, is very positively valued. Although the final product is similar, each client has its particularities and it is important to know how to adapt to them. I also believe that proactivity is valued because it is something that, in an environment as changing as ours, is key to always be one step ahead and implement the latest versions of the tools we use. Finally, the ability to work as a team. At Nousmedis we work in collaborative projects and it is important to know how to communicate and coordinate with the rest of the team.
What is one of the projects you have enjoyed the most in the company and why?
It’s not a project as such, it’s more like something we do at Nousmedis that I really enjoy. We offer and prepare customized “demos” free of charge for potential clients to demonstrate our capabilities. Besides its main function, which is to allow our future clients to see how we work and what we are capable of doing, for me it is a very useful tool to continue researching and exploring features of EasyCatalog.
Which catalog would you like to automate?
I would like to automate catalogs related to the publishing world. 📚
Do you think that the days of printed publications are numbered?
Not at all, I think that, right now, printed catalogs have found a balance between being environmentally friendly and their main function, which is to inform the public. It’s a good way to show care and attention to your customers.
What do you envision the future of catalog automation to be like?
Rather than a future, I think we have already found a good way to implement automation. I see automation as a tool that helps designers, making their job easier by eliminating human error and allowing them to concentrate on the creative side.
Can you share a recent accomplishment, either personal or professional, of which you are particularly proud?
As a personal accomplishment, I am writing a manhwa for Webtoon, which is proving to be an incredibly rewarding experience.
Tell us a funny anecdote you have experienced at Nousmedis or a favorite moment.
My favorite time is Fridays, especially when it’s someone’s birthday, as our colleague Elena usually brings delicious cookies for the birthday boy or girl. Interestingly, it seems that some workmates have “birthdays” several times this 2024, could it have something to do with the cookies? 🍪
If you could swap roles with anyone on the team for a day, who would you choose and why?
I would choose my colleague Erik, who has great people skills and is very talented. And if not… the ficus tree we have in the office. All day sunbathing!
When you are not working, we can find you…
In cyberspace, I don’t really exist, I’m an artificial intelligence created by Nousmedis. That… or at home making dinner.
Recommend a book, a podcast, a series, a movie you’ve been obsessing about lately.
As a book, I would recommend the graphic novel Lost Letters by Jim Bishop. It is a story that, stroke by stroke, shows the love that the author has put into it. Also, if you are a fan of stories with anagnorisis, this is your work.
If you like comedy, I would recommend the sitcom Jet Lag. Although the series is more than 20 years old, it reflects very well the everyday problems of today in Barcelona.
And as a movie, the last one I’ve seen, Casa en flames by Dani de la Orden.
If in addition to Eduard you want to meet the other members of the team, don’t miss the rest of the interviews in our Blog!
